The 10 Days Rwanda Gorilla Wildlife Experience Tour includes encounters with mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes national park, chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest national park, a number of wildlife species in Akagera national park and so much more.
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe
Begin your day with a warm delightful breakfast, at your hotel in Kigali and later transfer to Nyungwe, with an en route visit to King Palace museum, and Ethnographic Museum learn about history of Rwanda and proceed to Huye, where you will catch up with lunch en route. You will later proceed to your booked hotel at Nyungwe Top View Lodge. Meals: Lunch & dinner
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking & canopy walk
Today, after your early morning cap of African coffee, you will leave your hotel to experience the natural forest of Nyungwe well known for having 13 species of primates, and transferred to the park for briefing and chimpanzee trekking. You will be entitled to one hour on finding the chimpanzees. After doing the chimpanzee trek, head for lunch before heading for a canopy walk. This 70 meters suspended metallic bridge will give you a great overview of Nyungwe forest and on a luck day spot one or two more primates in the forest as you take a walk on this bridge and later return in the afternoon for dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Top View Lodge. Day 3: Transfer to Karongi
After your relaxed morning breakfast, transfer to Lake Kivu at Karongi, where you will just relax and have lunch. In the afternoon, go for a boat ride, and experience a wonderful boat experience on Lake Kivu, get to know more about the lake and its history plus its natural inhabitants. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Moriah Hills Resort. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & dinner
Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes
Have breakfast at your hotel and later meet your guide, share a brief introduction and later transfer to Volcanoes national park where you will spend your night for the next day gorilla trekking. Dinner and accommodation at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner
Day 5: Gorilla trekking
After an early morning breakfast, meet your guide and transfer to Volcanoes national park, where you will have gorilla trekking briefing on rules and regulation, later drive off to the gorilla trekking starting point, and head off for your trek. You will enjoy the wonderful guided hike to the gorilla trekking point before you meet the gorillas, where an hour will be allocated to you with the gorillas and you’re free to share and informative time, with your ranger guide. You will return after the trek and drive to your lodge for lunch. Afternoon, retire at leisure. Dinner and accommodation at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner
Day 6: Golden monkey trekking and return to Kigali
You will head for Golden monkey trekking at Volcanoes National Park. The golden monkey trek is just like gorilla trek, though less strenuous than gorilla. You will have an hour with the golden monkey’s later return for lunch. After lunch head drive to Kigali, time allowing, visit Kigali genocide memorial and local market. Dinner and overnight at Hotel des Mille Collins. Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner
Day 7: Transfer to Akagera
Have an early morning breakfast at your lodge by 8:00 am, meet your guide, share a short introductory briefing and jump into your safari jeep 4 x 4 with a pop up roof, for game viewing and find your way to Akagera national park which is 5 hour’s drive away. You can have an en route stop over for coffee or to use the washroom as you proceed, reach at the gate, register and proceed to the park reception for logistic clearance. You will later proceed to your lodge for lunch and in afternoon you can opt for game drive or relax at the lodge at Akagera Game Lodge. Meals: Lunch & dinner.
Day 8: Game drive and boat cruise
Have your early morning breakfast, you will head straight into the park and start to count your day’s sightings, starting from the southern sector of the park, where you will visit the giraffe loop for game drive, in search for the giraffe, buffaloes, impalas, zebras and more wildlife before we head for lunch at the lodge, relax and wait for afternoon boat cruise at Lake Ihema. The boat cruise rewards you with a great opportunity for watching a number of bird species, crocodiles, hippos, and other wildlife. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & dinner.
Day 9: Full day game drives and return to Kigali
Have an early morning breakfast, meet your guide, share a short briefing of the day programe and jump into your jeep driving north to the Kilala plains, where much wildlife sighting can be done.
On the course of the day’s game drive we shall be looking out for a number of wildlife including elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas, waterbucks, warthogs, leopards, lions, rhinos and much more the nature can offer, not forgetting a number of bird species, can as well be sighted along. Picnic lunch will be served during the course of the day before we exit the park to find our way out back to Kigali, reaching in the late evening and drop off at your hotel in Kigali. Dinner and overnight at Hotel des Mille Collins. Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Day 10: Departure
After your breakfast at the hotel, depending on your flight time, you will meet your guide, who will brief you shortly before transfer you for your flight back home.
